Back to Real Estate News

If you’re looking for a way to spend the weekend, the US Calf Roping National Finals are rolling back into Stephenville for a three-day event. The event begins today at 10:00 a.m. and will go until sometime on Sunday, September 16. Admission to the event is free.

This evening at 6:00 p.m., the Hard 8 Pit Bar-B-Q Party will be taking place at the Lone Star Arena. Vendor spaces are available $100 for the weekend for a 10′ X 10′ space with electricity. And tomorrow at 12:00 p.m., the Rattler Kid’s Dummy Roping will take place. Age Divisions include 5 & under, 6-8 years old, 9-11 years old, and age is determined of the day of roping. There are no entry fees for the children’s event, and all contestants will receive USCRA and Equibrand products.

Calf roping is a sport that is also known as tie-down roping. The rodeo event is suitable for the whole family, and features a calf and a rider mounted on a horse. The event is timed, and the objective is for the rider to catch the calf by throwing a lasso around its neck, dismount from the horse, run to the calf, and restrain it by tying three legs together as quickly as possible. Calves must be strong and healthy in order to participate, and most of them only participate a few times because of how quickly they grow. Typically, the calves weigh between 220 and 280 pounds.
