Tarleton State University is used to displaying excellence both in the classroom and on the playing field, but a new accomplishment has found the school: excellence behind the scenes with its athletic trainers.
According to a recent piece from the Stephenville Empire Tribune, the annual Lone Star Conference Athletic Training Staff of the Year award went to the Tarleton State Athletic Training staff for the first time in the history of the school.
Dr. Steve Simpson, head of the Tarleton Athletic Training Program, is in his 29th year at the helm of the department, which features a talented staff made up of former students and accomplished trainers, including Rachel Howell, Jacon Fain and Pedro Rodriguez, in addition to graduate assistants Annie Nalepa, Shelby Douglass, Jose Salas and Sherissa Hua, the news source stated.
“It’s a great honor to be recognized by the Lone Star Conference and our peers throughout the conference,” Simpson told the news source. “There is a high standard of health care provided for the student-athletes in the LSC and we strive to continue this care. This award was made possible through the efforts of our great staff, graduate assistants and athletic training students.”
Athletic Director Lonn Reisman added to the good cheer, telling the news source that Dr. Simpson is integral to the success of the TSU training department and is always looking for new and innovative ways to make it better.
Whether it’s in the training room, the classroom or the football field, TSU and, by extension, Stephenville is known for producing excellent and upstanding members of society. To the benefit of the Stephenville community, many of TSU’s products stay in the area and contribute to the local economy.
This is just one reason that exemplifies why Stephenville is a great place to call home. If you’re interested in learning more about the Stephenville real estate market and would like to pursue a new home purchase in the area, contact me today. I’d love to show you around.
