Lonn Reisman isn’t shy about his opinions about his basketball program that he has been leader of for 24 years. But when asked about the latest transfer to his team, the player who has won over 500 games at the school, he takes pause. Reisman explains, “It’s not fair to compare him to other guards who have played here. It really isn’t. He’s at a completely different level.”
He’s talking about Daylon “Chuck” Guy who is transferring to Tarleton from Arkansas-Little Rock. He will transfer with two years of eligibility with the Texans. Guy stands at 5-10 and averaged 10.4 points as a sophomore, and even dished out 19 points to national champion Kentucky. Guy played in all 36 games as a freshman, which helped them make it to the NCAA Tournament.
“Chuck is a scoring point guard but he can also combo and play the two-guard,” Reisman added. “He has range, he can break defenses down off the dribble and create his own shot or shots for others, he can do it all.”
Guy is most well known around the state for his high school achievements. He was a four-year letterman and claimed MVP honors from the city’s 4A districs as a senior, averaging 24.5 points, five assists and five steals. Guy made 22.5 points and five steals as a junior.
Those stats are impressive, and Reisman is excited for the potential Guy is bringing to Tarleton. Reisman has coached Dennis Rodman and Anthony Jones. He compares Guy to both of these players who later made it to the NBA.
