The Cowboy Capital of the World is experiencing — quite possibly — the best Pro Rodeo of all time! This year’s rodeo is supposed to be bigger and better in Stephenville, TX. Cowboy and rodeo events happen on a regular basis in this city, but there’s no other time like the World Pro Rodeo. Locals and visitors from near and far come together for the biggest event of the year, kicking off the fall season.
New Orleans tends to celebrate Mardi Gras all month long in February. Stephenville celebrates the World PRCA Rodeo practically all month long in September. Events fill the streets of Stephenville. Everyone in the family can have fun during this time of the year. Ladies might enjoy Cowgirl Tea or the Miss Cowboy Capital of the World Pro Rodeo Queen Contest.
Gentlemen may want to check out the Jeff Sewalt Iron Man Invitational Golf Tournament. Kids and families will surely want to go to the Rodeo Heritage Kickoff Celebration. There are plenty of things to do including pony rides, stick horse races, carriage rides, goat roping and more! Even foot races are held such as the Gold Buckle 5K and the “Where’s My Horse?” 1K Fun Run at Stephenville City Park. Each runner gets a Free T-Shirt and breakfast.
These events have already passed this September, and if you didn’t get to experience that part of the fun, now you know what’s in store for the following year to come, if not more! Other events that happened this past week include the Rodeo Heritage Parade which featured cannons, sabers, guns, jumping horses and a wonderful display of military skill. Ultimate Calf Roping took place at Stephenville’s Lone Star Arena. There was also The Show, with food, fashion, fundraising and fun at The N at Hardway Ranch, PRCA Steer Roping, WPRA Barrel Racing Slack, an evening with Don Edwards and Cowboy Legends and several other events.
Don’t worry, the fun isn’t over yet! Coming up this weekend: Rodeo Royalty Meet and Greet featuring the current Miss Cowboy Capital of the World Pro Rodeo Queens and Contestants, PRCA Rodeo Performance, Crowning of Cowboy Capital of the World Pro Rodeo Royalty, Dancin’ in the Dirt with Jake Hooker and the Outsiders, and the PRCA Rodeo Matinee Performance featuring the ‘Future Stars of Pro Rodeo’ and closing out with the High School Scholarship Shootout.
Can you see why Stephenville residents light up this time of year? The events are endless and bring all of the cowboys and rodeo lovers out to celebrate the culture they have grown to love so dearly. All of the local western shops are filled with customers eager to treat themselves and/or their horses to some brand new items. These events are for anyone to attend whether it’s your first time to a rodeo or a lifelong fan. This is something anyone and everyone can enjoy participating in. More than 600 cowboys and cowgirls from around the world will be competing at the Lone Star Arena this weekend. Don’t miss the rest of this year’s annual Cowboy Capital of the World Pro Rodeo!
