In the spirit of the season, The Stephenville Optimist Club is hosting its annual Toys for Kids Bowling Tourney. Already in its third year, The Optimist Club’s bowling benefit is still growing, raising $4,200 last year and hoping to exceed that this year.
Formerly a golf tournament, the Toys for Kids Bowling Tournament is held to raise money for Christmas gifts and pleasantries to local families that might not otherwise be able to afford it. Keeping in Stephenville spirit, all the toys are purchased locally.
The Stephenville Optimist Club, the host and main sponsor for the tourney, is hoping to see a large turnout for this year’s Toys for Kids drive. In the last three years, the tournament has taken an increasingly important role in The Optimist Club’s initiative bringing in around 60 percent of the funds needed to purchase the toys for the year. Most of the funding is contributed through corporate and lane sponsors and even though some sponsors have already come forward, the club is always on the lookout for more.
The Stephenville Optimist Club Toys for Kids Bowling Tournament will take place on Saturday, November 17th from 9:00 AM to noon at 1815 West Lingleville Road — Lone Star Lanes. If you haven’t registered already, it’s not too late to join the fun and help out local families this holiday season! Registration costs $20 per adult and $12 per child under the age of twelve. The registration fee includes shoes, three games of bowling, and a pizza lunch for all players. Teams will be comprised of four to five people and will bowl for the top three spots and great prizes! If you’re not a bowler, Lane sponsorships are available for a $100 donation. For more information about the fundraiser, The Optimist Club, or Toys for Tots, call Finegan at 445-4007.
The Optimist Club’s toy drive is a shining example of the Stephenville spirit, and what makes Stephenville such a great place to live. If you’d like to find Stephenville homes for sale and join our community, feel free to contact us!
