Attention: Lovers of animals, dogs, and all things cute. You’re in luck! The Texas Sheepdog Association is hosting the annual Sheepdog Trial State Finals in Erath County for the third consecutive year. If you’re looking for a fun event for the entire family, be sure to head down to Ashcraft Ranch on Friday the 15th through Sunday the 17th. Admission is free, but don’t forget the chairs!

A curious event to say the least, the Sheepdog Trial at Ashcraft Ranch does not disappoint. Handlers and dogs will have to work in perfect harmony to have a chance at the championship, with handlers using their voices and whistles to guide dogs through the courses. Whether you’re a dog enthusiast, curious mind, or simply just want to see these amazing dogs do what they were born to do, you won’t regret your trip out to the trial this weekend.

The sheepdogs and their handlers competing in the trials are the best in the state, and are required to hold a membership with the TSDA as well as compete in a number of other trials throughout the season. Handlers and their passionate pups will come from all across Texas to compete for an individual championship crown in one of five classes ranging from novice skill level to an open level that any dog and handler team can join. After three days of open trials, the dogs compete for the top spot in each class.

No matter what your affinity for animals, the Sheepdog Trial Texas State Finals is sure to be a blast, and it’s just one of the many fantastic events happening in Stephenville every day. If you’re considering checking out some Stephenville real estate and want some help getting your sheep in a row, give us a call!

“Eric & Jamie Hayden were great to work with. They are very responsive and know the area well. They have a great team around them that made the process of selling very easy. We were out of state during the sale and they went above and beyond to assist in coordinating with us. Definitely recommend!”
