There are a number of things to do around your home immediately after purchase. Maintenance checks and inspections should be conducted right away in order to detect any problems. If you just purchased a home in the Erath area, use the following checklist to help you address any maintenance or safety issues that may arise.
Enhance your home’s security by changing the locks on all exterior entrances.
Take a security system into consideration. Additionally, make sure that all windows and doors are secure and add security rods to sliding doors and windows if necessary.
Check to see if every level of your home has a smoke detector, and if not, make sure to install them right away. Replace and test the batteries on your current smoke detectors and make sure they are all placed outside sleeping areas.
Clean and inspect electronic air cleaners and humidifiers around your home.
If a faucet or shower head is leaking, deal with the issue early on and repair or replace the part.
Repair flush mechanisms and loose toilets in your home’s bathrooms.
Inspect the roof for any visible damage to the chimney, flashings or roof coverings.
Make sure the roof vents located in the attic are not obstructed. Level out insulation and inspect for any sign of condensation, leakage or critter activity.
Walkways, decks, driveways, porches and other landscape should be inspected for any signs of deterioration or potential safety hazards.
If below freezing temperatures are being reported, make sure to shut off isolating valves for exterior hose bibs.
Make sure to get rid of any wood or soil contact around the perimeter of your home in order to eliminate boring insect activity.
Inspect your home’s garage door opener and make sure to lubricate and clean the rollers, tracks and hinges on the overhead doors.

“Desiree Bridges went above and beyond to help us first time home buyers go through the, at times stressful, process. She constantly followed up on items and helped us stay on track, along with the bank and seller. Throughout the entire process she was professional, knowledgeable, and trustworthy. She took our complete lack of real estate knowledge in stride and answered every question. We never had to worry that something was slipping through the cracks on her end. And now we are satisfied home owners. Highly recommend and if I were gonna to buy another one I’d go with Miss Desiree again at Hayden Real Estate!!”
“Cindy Carrell is an amazing realtor! Cindy did an excellent job marketing our home & successfully helping it to sell for exactly what we wanted and in under 60 days. Cindy is professional and a pleasure to work with. She is prompt to answer questions and to help resolve those situations that arise while selling and buying a home. Cindy also helped us find our forever home within a week of listing our house. If you are looking for a realtor Cindy is an excellent choice!”

“Terry Childers was extremely helpful, reliable, friendly, and knowledgeable. We had some bad luck while house hunting but Terry was persistent and never let up. He went above and beyond to make sure we were satisfied. If we ever sell or buy again Terry is our only choice.”
“Eric & Jamie Hayden were great to work with. They are very responsive and know the area well. They have a great team around them that made the process of selling very easy. We were out of state during the sale and they went above and beyond to assist in coordinating with us. Definitely recommend!”
