The heat is on in Stephenville, and there are still a few weeks before the kids go back to school. Have you sat down and thought about how many cups you’ve washed this summer? When the heat cranks up and the kids are home, it’s not uncommon for them to enter the kitchen and take a new cup from the cabinet each time they want something to drink. And when that happens, your sink fills up with dishes quicker than you can imagine.
If you have time for a quick weekend project, think about creating some magnet cups. It’s a simple project that you can partially involve the kids with, and in a short amount of time, you’ll have cups that can stick right to the fridge that the kids can use over and over again.
All you need for the project is lightweight plastic cups (you can find them at Target or even a local drugstore), magnets, and a hot glue gun or Crazy Glue. Have your kids pick-up their cups, and then take over the gluing part of the project. You’ll also want to be very careful using magnets around your kids. If you’re concerned about your kids swallowing them, choose a big larger magnets that will also keep the cups affixed to the fridge better. You may even want to use two magnets for added stability.
Also, if you’re worried about kids prying the magnets off, reach for the Crazy Glue instead. This will ensure that the magnets stay on better, even though the glue gun affixes them pretty well. You can also glue your magnets to the bottom of the cups, or the side, depending on what look you’re after. Let the glue dry for about 10 minutes, and have your kids stick them on the fridge. Voila!
