How to Choose the Perfect Neighborhood

Back to Real Estate News

Choose a beautiful Stephenville neighborhoodWhen purchasing a home, one of the most important factors to take into consideration is location. Whether you are buying your home in the Stephenville or Erath County area, make sure to thoroughly research the neighborhood before making any decisions.

-Check out a neighborhood’s walk score on Zillow. A walk score refers to how walkable an address is to nearby recreation and amenities. Local spots like coffee shops, restaurants, schools, parks, bars and bookstores will be broken down conveniently on a map.

-Drive by the neighborhood and scrutinize small details including the structure of the roads, the number of sidewalks, nearby trains and the surrounding landscape.

-Conduct a neighborhood rating on Yelp. Type in your address to see what kind of entertainment is located nearby and how others have rated the establishments.

-Take a walk around the neighborhood and take in the overall vibe. Stop by the park or a local coffee shop and take note of the things you do and do not like.

-Greet the residents around the area and take note of the small details including how old they are, whether they have children or pets, and miscellaneous other things.

-Chat up locals in the area by going to the local farmers market. Here you can gain a sense of the people living in the neighborhood as well as look around for flyers of town events you may be able to attend.

-Check out the local school’s rankings and see how they have ranked when compared to schools in other neighborhoods. The higher a school is ranked, the better a neighborhood or town.

-Look at any crime statistics available about the neighborhood you are considering moving into. It is beneficial for you to be informed about what types of crimes are committed around the area.
