Tarleton State already has quite the reputation for turning out pro ranked athletes, and Fabion Wilson will become the 27th Lonn Reisman product to join this elite list.
The 6-7 forward/center has signed a contract with the Salon Vilpas Vikings – a First Division team in Finland that is part of a league called Korisliiga. He will arrive in Finland in mid-August and become the second Texan to play for the Vikings. Peter Praznovski, former Tarleton standout, was also a member of Salon Vilpas.
Tarleton associate head coach Chris Reisman is very proud of Wilson. “We are ecstatic for Fabian and this opportunity for him to go play for (Salon). For him to go into a First Division league for his rookie season is a great accomplishment,” he said. “The Vikings have a great program and do an excellent job developing rookies.”
Looking at Wilson’s statistics it’s obvious why he’s already shaping up to have a very successful career. He averaged better than 13 points and seven rebounds as a senior, leading Tarleton to the second round of the NCAA Championship. He also earned first-team All-Lone Star Conference and first-team All-South Central Region honors.
Late in the year was when Wilson really stood out. He produced more than 16 points per showing over Tarleton’s final 11 games and had a season-best 27 at Abilene Christian and scored 26 at home – twice. Wilson is one of two Americans that the Vikings have signed this off season – Marquis Hall from Division I Lehigh will be on the team as well.
