Coupled with recent gains in real estate and a downward arc in the number of foreclosures, the overall work-life forecast for Earth County is indeed improving as 2013 begins. According to a recent Texas Tribune report, the unemployment rate is trending downward and that is great news to the citizens across Stephenville and Erath County specifically. By the November 2012, unemployment had dropped for the third month in a row. And in November, unemployment fell to its lowest level since December of 2008. The analysis should come as welcome news to area employers who are looking for proof of a steadying economic landscape to propel even further hiring and development.
This brings Erath County and areas like Stephenville lower by 2 percentage points to the national unemployment rate. The report was welcome news, especially during a holiday season that usually does not take on a lot of new employees other than in the retail sector. “Private sector employers continue to lead the way to growth and prosperity in Texas,” said Texas Workforce Commissioner Tom Pauken in a press release, going on to add: “We’ve seen 266,400 private sector jobs added in Texas over the past year.”
And the fact that Stephenville is an amazing place to raise a family certainly doesn’t hurt. We’ve been covering the region for years and remain long-standing members of the Stephenville community. So it doesn’t surprise us to read about this type of trend. Erath County real estate is as much a way of life as it is a property investment. But there needs to be additional infrastructure and industry to support the obvious lifestyle benefits.
There is nothing like living on the golden plains of Texas so the news that there is renewed economic development should only bolster a steadily improving Stephenville real estate market.
