It’s easy to get intimidated when buying a home, especially if you’re a first-time buyer. There are so many factors to consider when buying, but don’t fret. We’ve put together a few home buying “Do’s and Don’ts” to consider the next time you’re checking out a property.
Don’t: Look at their furniture.
It’s all too common that a buyer walks into a Stephenville home and is awed by the decor. What they don’t realize is that, in a few weeks time, all of that furniture will be gone! Sellers go to great lengths to make sure their furniture and belongings look nice when buyers come around, but it’s just that: their furniture, not yours.
Do: Look at your furniture.
Before you go out house hunting, take an hour to measure all of your favorite furniture. Not everything, just the things you’d be upset about losing. That way, when you’re looking at houses, you can measure everything as you go and make sure all your must-have decor will fit where you want it to.
Don’t: Slack on Research
Location, Location, Location! It’s the golden rule of real estate. Be absolutely sure you know everything you can about the location of a home you’re looking to buy. Read up about everything from community events to crime rates.
Do: Find an area that compliments your lifestyle.
One thing that is often overlooked by first-time buyers is finding a locale that fits their own lifestyle. That house might have the perfect front yard to plant your garden, but you might not be able to smell the petunias over the factory fumes from down the road.
Of course, one massive “Do” of finding a Stephenville home is working with a local agent. Give us a call and we’ll help you on your way to seeing dozens of Erath County homes for sale as soon as possible!
